By Los Angeles Times Staff Writers September 14, 2008 (LA TIMES): Federal transportation officials say it's too early to determine what caused the crash that has killed at least 25 people and left 135 more injured, 40 of them critically.

The residents of Simi and San Fernando Valleys and beyond have been shaken to the core by the terrible tragedy that occurred on Friday September 12th. A Metrolink Commuter train carrying approximately 225 passengers failed to stop at a red light and crashed head-on into an oncoming freight train – killing 25 and injuring at least 135 more – 40 critically.
